Morocco 2018: Successful bid

June 15, 2018

UCLan Students who visited the orphanage centre in Morocco only months ago, continue with their efforts and mission to support the disadvantaged young people in the centre. Students were able to bid successfully for a fund which is available to all UCLan students with the aim of carrying out a project which will benefit the community and society. The students from the BA (Hons) Community Leadership programme bided for up to £500 from the Higher Education Volunteering (HEV) Project in order to buy gifts and presents for the children for the Eid celebrations.

The Director of the Agadir Orphanage Centre, Hicham Eddbourh, has been extremely supportive and welcoming and believes this project will really help to improve the children’s aspirations for the future. This gesture by the UCLan students is just another small effort that is making a big change.

Also, a local Business owner in Preston sent gifts to the orphanage after hearing of the good work the students are doing. Qasim, the Owner of mailboxes in Central Lancashire ,was moved by the students efforts and also decided to donate nearly a truck full of clothes and toys to the orphanage.

This is a testament to the work CVCL are doing across the globe to better communities not just locally but also internationally. In the next academic year, the centre will also be looking to endeavour in similar projects.

The strategic partnership with the Orphanage will ensure UCLan Students can gain valuable work experience and cultural awareness.
