Between April – July 2014 CVCL worked with students from four local high schools: Longridge High School, Christ the King Catholic Maths and Computing College, Ashton Community Science College and Corpus Christi Catholic High School. Teachers in each school selected ten students from Year 9 who were considered likely to be at risk of becoming NEET (not in employment, education or training) if left without intervention. Students with poor attendance or behaviour issues and stresses outside of school were targeted. CVCL worked closely with the students through a series of weekly sessions. Students were able to discuss the issues they felt were a barrier to their education and create a short stop motion animation film exploring these in their own artwork and language. Student evaluations showed that the students really enjoyed the project and that the issues depicted in the films were relevant to their lives and the issues they face.
